3D Model (colours)
I continued to refine the colours on the chicken model and added a few more adjustments. I noticed that the burn blisters were scattered too randomly, making it look overly distracting. Hence, I removed some bumps by re-sculpting the model to balance the amount of blisters.

Another adjustment I made was adding more detail to the chicken’s hands and feet after noticing that the bottom of them hadn’t been textured yet.

According to the character sheet, the containment that holds the ovum is an eggshell membrane that has a transparent appearance. To apply this effect, I followed a YouTube tutorial created by Danny Mac 3D (2018), which demonstrated how to apply transparency to the mesh (eggshell membrane). Following his tutorial, I activated the BPR Transparent Shading and adjusted the BPR visibility and shadow to achieve the transparent look. The transparency becomes visible by activating the BPR tool.

Daily Practice
As I mentioned before, after participating in the life drawing session, I aspired to create a more organic art style. Inspired by this, I committed to do daily practices over my spring break. I particularly focused on studying hands, as I still struggled with adjusting the position of the fingers. To create dynamic hand movement, I tried to think in 3D, which is by using a slightly flattened cube for the palm before sketching the lines on where the fingers would be placed. At the same time, I also pushed myself to observe the details/characteristics of the human body, such as bumps, folds, and fat, to create the organic look I’m looking for. When I struggled to create an anatomically correct hand, I’d trace over the reference and point out the inaccurate parts. Moving forward, I plan to continue my daily practices of the human body to achieve my desired realism style as it also enhances my understanding of human anatomy, which will be valuable for the upcoming 3D character project.
